The Alpine Tradition

What is a Cabane?

In the Swiss Alps, a cabane is something earned — a mountain refuge found only at the end of a climb, beyond the reach of roads and crowds. For generations, these shelters have offered mountaineers a place to rest, gather, and reconnect with the raw beauty of high altitude.

Cabane Tortin honours this heritage. Unlike valley chalets that bring the mountain to you, we invite you to come to the mountain. The journey — whether by ski, snowshoe, or our tracked vehicle — is not an inconvenience but an initiation.

Here, luxury is not about lavish excess. It's about space and silence. First light on untouched snow. A private chef preparing dinner as the Milky Way emerges. The cabane tradition reimagined for those who seek something deeper than comfort.

The Great Room

Spaces — Living

An open-plan great room anchors the Cabane — panoramic windows framing every French 4,000m peak. Polished concrete floors meet reclaimed-wood beams, and a suspended fireplace centres the space. Smart lighting adapts to the sunset hues, while hidden speakers weave your chosen soundtrack through the room. It is equal parts observation deck and cosy refuge.

Culinary Excellence

Spaces — Dining

Cuisine is bespoke, planned weeks in advance with each party. Our chef sources the finest local produce — think Valais lamb, Gruyère d'alpage, and heirloom vegetables from Rhône Valley farms. A curated cellar pairs fine wines with nightly courses, and Sunset Après on the terrace is an optional tradition. The dining table seats all 12 guests.

Restful Retreat

Spaces — Sleeping

Three king bedrooms occupy the main level, with the master enjoying a private bathroom and sunrise views toward Mont Blanc. Above, a lofted pod accommodates up to six people in cosy privacy. Natural wool bedding, blackout blinds, and silent ventilation guarantee deep rest — essential for dawn-patrol departures.
